This site is a work in progress. Bear with us!
It all started on a March afternoon, several states away on Hilton Head Island. That was when Commissioner John Ebel devised the plan that would eventually become the Dayton Gem Games Commission and the summer events we all know and love today. He got a couple of friends to help him (see below) and the rest is history!
Hailing from Centerville High School, John Ebel (he/they) is the Commissioner of the Dayton Gem Games. A radio broadcaster, quizbowler, runner, honors/AP student and soon-to-be National Merit Semifinalist, they wear many hats - including the hat of Commissioner. When he's not in school or at a Gem Games event, John's probably playing Mario Kart, cursing the College Board, or fantasizing about next week's competition.
When you first contact us at the Dayton Gem Games Commission, you're talking with Tamara Manasrah (she/her/any), our secretary. Tamara is currently studying for her bachelor's in biology at the University of Dayton, and she hopes to pursue a research position after graduation. A curious person, Tamara loves to learn about anything and everything, and she's thrilled to meet you!
Often seen sipping on a white can of Monster Energy, Vik Hsiao (they/them) is the treasurer of the Dayton Gem Games Commission. A sophomore at THE Ohio State University, Vik is studying Chemistry on the pre-med track. They are passionate about giving back to the community and they are excited to make a change!
Ry Sadler (she/they) is honored to serve as the Dayton Gem Games Commission's Director of Public Relations and Social Media Manager. She attends the Dayton Regional STEM School and intends to pursue elementary education in the future. They are also very active in the Dayton arts community, as they are involved in numerous productions across different organizations and serve as a Dayton Live Teen Ambassador.
