Before you email us, please read the FAQs and make sure your question isn't already answered there. If you don't get a response, it's probably because your question was answered on this page and we don't want to repeat ourselves.

When you register for an event, whether it's at the door or online, you agreed to follow the Dayton Gem Games Code of Conduct. The Dayton Gem Games Code of Conduct, which applies to every participant at every event, is as follows.
Be kind to other participants at all times. No discrimination, bigotry, hatred, harassment, or bullying will ever be tolerated in connection to any Gem Games event.
This includes, but is not limited to: making threats, physical harassment, hazing, intimidation, violence/fighting/assault, the use of slurs, profanity intended to hurt another person, insults/excessive or disrespectful taunting (lighthearted trash talk and friendly banter is encouraged!), stalking, menacing, blackmail, or anything else that may create a negative environment.
This also includes sexual harassment, defined as any unwelcome advance, exposure, request for favors, or any other unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature.
Be honest. Intentional manipulation of event results, including playing significantly below one’s true ability or “throwing” matches, will not be accepted and will result in immediate disqualification (and, depending on the severity, a permanent ban from the Gem Games).
Cheating, including doping, is not permitted.
Respect the venues. Do not destroy or wantonly break equipment. Do not litter. Leave our host venues better than you found them.
Do not vandalize or steal from host venues or other participants.
Follow the instructions of all stewards, marshals, employees, referees, volunteers, and public officers acting in their official power.
Recognize that there may be children present at venues, and act accordingly. Do not use profanity, drink, and/or smoke around children.
Don’t do anything illegal. This includes using drugs that you are not legally allowed to possess or use.
Respect others’ privacy at all times. You are permitted to take pictures, videos, etc. of yourself and/or your party for personal use and/or sharing on social media (tag us: @daytongemgames everywhere!). However, do not take photos of other people without their consent.
No, just show up!
We encourage you to record, photograph, and post your experiences when you are allowed! (Tag us on Instagram: @daytongemgames) You are not permitted to record your POV of ceremonies (including awards), but still photos are permitted. In some events, if your court/field/arena/match/hole is not being televised, you may be permitted to record, but never when you are actively competing. You may be permitted to record certain backstage/bullpen areas if there is no sign forbidding it. If you see an ON AIR sticker, you are not permitted to record video since the event is being livestreamed/televised or recorded.
In general, register for the class whose gender you most closely align with. We require all participants to make a bona fide declaration of their gender identity if it is necessary. For co-ed team sports, there is a maximum number of participants who identify as each gender on the field/court at a time (typically no more than fifty percent).
Typically, this won't be a problem, since most of our events don't have gendered classes.
In general, no. We only issue refunds if an event was cancelled before a winner could be declared. If this situation applies, we will announce it on our website and on all social media channels. You must email the Treasurer at treasurer(at)daytongemgames(dot)org to claim your refund.
If you were originally registered for an event that was later rescheduled, you may cancel your registration for a full refund or transfer your entry to another participant.
If a refund is issued, we encourage you to forgo a refund and donate your registration fee instead to support our wonderful partner charities.
